Let’s see, do you know all these features ?
If you’re an adventurous music lover, this is the perfect opportunity for you to play treasure hunt on Anghami. Here are some hidden features that will help you do more, enjoy your music to the max, and get the most out of your listening experience on Anghami.
1. Sleep timer
If you’re someone who loves listening to music before going to sleep but always wake up with the music still playing or your phone drained of its battery (if you forgot to plug in the charger), we have the solution for you!
You can set a timer for music to stop playing after a period of time of your choice. To do that, long-press on that play button in the music player. You’ll see the sleep timer slide up from the bottom of the screen, with different time periods for you to choose from. Cool, right?
2. Mute artists
Tired of having certain artists showing up in your recommendations? Go to their artist page, click on the three dots on the top right, and click on “Mute artist”. Voila!
3. Alarm on Android
You can wake up to your favorite song every morning by setting an alarm from the Anghami app. Go to “My Music”, tap on the alarm clock icon on the top right, search for the song, set a time and you’ve got yourself a personalized alarm!
4. Friends Mixtape
Listening to music with your friends is about to get ten times more exciting!
If you and your friend are both on Anghami, you can create a mixtape that combines your music tastes so you enjoy listening to the music you both love. It’s kind of like a swirly chocolate/vanilla ice cream cone situation.
To do that, click on “Mixtapes”, tap on the “Create Mixtape” button, choose “Friends Mixtape”, pick up to 5 friends, and let the magic begin by clicking on “Start Mixing”. When the mixtape is ready, you can share it with the friends you picked by clicking on “Notify X of this mixtape”.
Save yourself the trouble of fighting over who gets to use the AUX/Bluetooth to play music on your next road trip by using our mixtape generator!
5. Voice search
Surfing through the wide diversity of music while driving can be tricky and dangerous. Use our Voice Search option to find the song you want with minimal effort.
This hidden feature is not-so-hidden. You can access it through the yellow button next to the search bar on the “Search” page. Once you tap the button, it will automatically activate Radar. To use the Voice Search option, click on the mic icon at the bottom of the screen, “Tap to start”, tell us what you’re looking for and let us do the rest.
6. Music Buddies
Knowing people who have the same music taste as yours so you can share songs with each other can be quite fun. Did you know that you can find your music buddies on Anghami? We use users’ music DNA to calculate their similarities and give you a list of people who love the same artists/songs/genres as you. To find that feature, go to “Chats”, click on “Discover people”, scroll down, and there you have it! You’ll see your music buddies with a music match percentage. Once you click on a user, you’ll be taken to their profile where you can see the songs they like, the artists and playlists they follow, the playlists they’ve made, their recently played and most played songs. Ready to make new friends?
7. Searching by Lyrics
Search by typing the lyrics of a song even if you don’t know it (if you don’t find it, you can scroll to the end and find it in Lyrics)
You know that feeling of frustration when you get when you can’t remember the name of a song, only a few words from the lyrics? No more cause we got you. Look for the song by typing the lyrics you remember into the search bar and you’ll get results of songs that match these lyrics. If you can’t find what you’re looking for in the “Top” search results, scroll over to “Lyrics” for a longer list of suggestions.
8. Play more like this
If you like a song and you’re bored and you wanna play more like it
If you like the song you’re listening to but you’re growing sick of playing it over and over again, you can explore songs similar to it from the music player. Simply click on the 3 dots under the artwork and tap on “Play more like this”. You’ll get songs inspired by the song, ready for you to find your next favorite song.
9. Private Listening Session
For people who like to step out of their music comfort zone or to check out songs their friends send them but fear it might affect their future song recommendations, we have the solution for you!
Go to the “My Music” tab, click on Settings on the top right, tap on “Music”, and toggle the “Private music activity” on. You’ve now activated a private listening session – kind of like the Incognito mode on any web browser. It even hides the songs you’re playing from your friends so you don’t have to worry about them seeing the out-of-character music you’re exploring.
10. Share Lyrics
Do you ever find yourself listening to a song that has a specific line that reminds you of someone? Anghami lets you share any lyrics with your friend on a customized background of your choice. This one’s easy but takes a few steps. When you’re listening to a song, click on the lyrics button on the middle of the artwork. The full lyrics of the song will appear in front of you. Tap on the part you like and you’ll see a share button next to it. Once you click on it, you’ll get the sentence you chose on the screen in front of you, with the song cover as a background. If you want to include a bigger part of the song, click on the small pencil right above the sentence, and drag your finger across the section you want to add (like you would normally do when selecting text on your phone). Click on done and you’ll see the full paragraph in front of you. Now the color of the background is not the only thing you can change. You can choose any picture from your gallery to serve as a background by clicking on the camera icon. Once you’re happy with the result, tap “Share Now” and pick the medium of your choice.
11. People Search
Songs and artists are not the only things you can look for on Anghami. Our search bar lets you look up people you know on the app and view their profile to see what songs they’ve been listening to. To do so, type the name of the person in the search box, click on enter, scroll over to “People” and you’ll get a list of all the users on Anghami with that name. When you find the one you’re looking for, clicking on their name will take you to their profile where you can look through their music activity and follow them to stay up-to-date.
12. Icebreaker
Chatting with someone for the first time might be a bit awkward. Anghami suggests that you send every new person you chat with a song they would like to break the ice smoothly with music.
13. Radar
Hear a song you like but don’t know its name? Open Anghami, go to the Search tab, click on the yellow button next to the search bar and let the Radar catch your next favorite song.
14. Vibes
Have you ever noticed the different words that show up under playlist details? These are called vibes. When you click on one of them, your playlist is filtered to show you only the songs that fit the genre you chose. For example, if a playlist has songs that fit the same mood/theme (e.g. “Happy”), it’s likely to have songs of different genres, especially if it’s a somehow broad mood/theme. If you click on the “Alternative” vibe, you’ll only see the Alternative songs in that playlist.
15. Friends’ Stories
This is where you can see the songs that your friends are playing, react and reply to them.
You must be asking yourself: does this mean that every song I listen to is posted to my story? Yes, BUT you can disable that by making your profile private. To do that, go to the “Chats” tab, click on your picture on the top left, “Edit Profile”, then toggle the “Private profile” on. If you feel like sharing a song to your story though, you can do that by clicking on the icon that looks like a paper plane in the middle of the music player and choose “Add to my story”.
When you’re on the homepage, you’ll notice that your friends’ stories are on display at the top of the screen. You can choose the order in which they appear by long-pressing on the friends whose stories you want to see first and choosing “See first” from the menu. You can also mute a user’s stories if you don’t want to see them anymore.
16. Playlist Stories
Discovering new music is exciting but you sometimes feel like checking the feel of the playlist before playing it, right? Well, worry not! You can preview the songs in your “Weekly Mixtape” or “New Music Today” in the form of a story. Click on the small circle on the right of each of them to start playing snippets from the songs. You can skip to the next song by tapping on the screen once.
17. Remote Control
Anghami helps you control your music on all your devices from your phone. If you’re listening to music on your laptop/TV and want to change the song, you can click on the “Next” button from your phone.
You can also switch playing music between devices by clicking on the “Audio Settings” at the bottom of the music player and picking the device of your choice.
18. Creating Artist-focused Playlists
Creating playlists containing the songs you love the most by a certain artist is easier than you think. Start by creating a playlist in the “My Music” tab and make sure to mention the artist name in it. Click on “Done” and watch the suggestions unfold with songs by that same artist. You can now add the ones you like to your playlist by simply hitting the “Add” button next to each song.
19. Song Recommendations
We all have that one playlist we cannot get enough of. If you feel like adding more songs to it and need some help, you can scroll down to the bottom of the playlist and check out the Recommended songs. Make them part of your playlist by tapping on the small “Add” button on the right side of the songs you like.
20. Podcasts Tricks
With the new update, you can now take full control of the podcast you’re listening to by scrubbing to any moment you want, setting a sleep timer for it to stop playing after a certain period of time, and rewind/fast-forward 15/30 seconds at once. Don’t worry about pausing the podcast to do something else because you resume it when you open the app again, even if you played another podcast or a song during that time. You can also see how much time is remaining from the podcast.
21. Bitmoji
If you’re on Snapchat, you know how fun Bitmojis can be. You can connect your Anghami profile to Bitmoji to send personalized Bitmojis to your friends via chat!
22. Offline
Not having access to the internet can be quite frustrating, especially when you have a lot of time to pass and need a distraction or something entertaining. If you’re an Anghami Plus user, you can download music once, when you’re connected to WiFi, and access them offline anytime, anywhere. Now you can take your favorite songs with you wherever you go, even if you’re up in air!
23. High Audio Quality
Anghami Plus turns your phone into a portable studio! Boost your sound to the highest audio quality from Settings and you’ll feel like the artists are playing your favorite songs right there in front of you! It’s THAT good.
24. No Ads
