A fruitful partnership that started long in 2016 with so many successful business aspects and integrations led to the huge project that we are witnessing today.
Vodafone is the leading operator in Egypt, with a unique innovative culture. When they looked to update their user-exclusive music streaming service and the value-added services they offer, they reached out to the MENA region’s largest music streaming platform, Anghami.
As we have the science and data needed, we were able to provide the technical and tactical support to help the telecom create a new revenue model while keeping their music exclusive and protected as the telecom had previously experienced problems with piracy.
Launching a New Vodafone and Anghami Experience
Vodafone had previous experience with their music streaming but needed a new update to meet new consumer listening trends and demands. With everyone using popular streaming platforms like Anghami, it was time to get innovative.
With both companies always looking to add more value to users (the telecom’s vision to “become the partner of choice delivering integrated value-adding services that leverage telecom experience”), the partnership allowed both parties to find a new way to reach out to users.
Together, the two brands have integrated and launched a new music service for Vodafone users within the Anghami app.
Using Anghami’s secure streaming service, the telecom brand can now avoid piracy and maintain its brand’s and music’s exclusive nature, while creating a new revenue stream for the company.
Leveraging the music streaming platform’s technology allows for the telecom brand to expand its digital music reach and extend to new segments/cultures where there is a hunger to consume different and niche kinds of music. With it, Anghami can continue its growth journey by reaching and tackling new segments as well, through the partnership, and work with Vodafone’s exclusive lineup of stars and up-and-coming music artists. For users, this means even more new and exclusive songs and albums.
Anghami also has a good track record working with brands, providing data and usage patterns that help them understand how to better leverage the app and create even more exciting experiences for app users.
Keeping it Exclusive
Together, Anghami and Vodafone are launching a new pre-order service for Vodafone users on Anghami, and are offering an exclusive offer to stream superstar Amr Diab’s newest unreleased album, 45 days ahead of everyone else, to celebrate the launch of the service.
Vodafone users can pay 1.5 EGP per song directly from their phones and listen to the album on the Anghami app, where they can be free to add them to their favorite playlists and be the center of envy in any group.
Building on the new music service, Vodafone users will also be able to use the brand’s Ring-Back tone service through Anghami and enjoy live in-app concerts, sponsored by Vodafone, soon.
A Warm Welcome
If your Anghami interface turned RED this week at the main touch points (platform icon, search page, payment screen…), it wasn’t random nor by chance. It’s us, welcoming Vodafone’s special customers to their new music world.
A special thanks goes out to our brilliant product team who deployed this with agility and effectiveness.
This wasn’t an easy decision for us. Changing our UI identity/colors is a major move but we are flexible when it comes to a partner like Vodafone and a big series of features launch, music releases, and events so we made it happen. Flexibility, agility and continuous innovation are our motto, the stars are the limit—this our internal culture and this is how we act!
I’ll tell you what, this is not the only surprise!
